What you can do to prepare

Some things you should consider

  • Plan ahead for study-related costs, such as books, notepads, laptop or materials. Some courses cost more than others. Find out about understanding student living costs
  • Research different accommodation costs if you plan to move away from home, to make sure you can afford to attend the university of your course
  • Budget for social events such as nights out and socialising with new friends

  • When applications open, apply as soon as possible! This gives us enough time to work out how much money you can get to help towards your living costs
  • You can apply for student finance even if you don’t know where you’ll be living or studying
